In addition to the large number of excellent plates, a fully-illustrated appendix deals with the use of watermarks in dating old maps and documents. Probably the most important feature, however, for the serious student, is the comprehensive list of more than 2000 cartographers, engravers, publishers and printers concerned with printed maps and globes between 1500 and 1850 A.D.
